Just as the world is currently caught up in this global pandemic our work environments have changed; not least our personal workplaces. Whether we all have to social distance from one another or gather around virtual meetings across the internet the way of working has evolved and it can become the future way in which employees, and businesses can grow whilst adapting to this modern working strategy.
Here at ASE we have been using remote working practices ever since we began. Combining the inputs from colleagues who prefer to work within the office and colleagues working from their home locations to create highly strategic team projects. Integral to any team based working groups are both communication and having a clear combined strategy to your goal. Whether it’s sharing ideas, bouncing emails, having one-on-one or group discussions; the key requisite is having the foundations in place to continue working from almost any place you wish. This is what we see as a future ideal in the modern team environment, it’s how it has always been and will be at Applied Software Engineering Ltd. We hope that your business too can adapt and share the ideas that we have found help our company thrive, even in difficult times.
Finding your Work Solution
We operate as an embedded software house and develop software applications & hardware products for a deliberately wide range of companies and target environments. Having this mindset allows us to put our engineer hats on and find solutions or new ways of thinking that can be innovative and lead us to a successful future.
Here are just some of the advantages we have by following this model of working:
- Flexibility / Personal Schedule
- Environment Custom to Individual Needs
- No Commuting / No Traffic / No Crowds
- We can wear Cosy & Comfortable Clothes
- Focus on Work Goals
Having a flexible routine has to be the number one benefit! Yes we have to turn up for video meetings, but whether it’s part-time or full-time work, we are otherwise free to alter our work schedule to suit our individual circumstances. Most of us have our own (more or less) regular hours and daily routine; though we have some definite “morning people” and some who would rather sleep in and work into the evening. Mind you, nothing beats our love for the morning tea and coffee, so we have a short daily video get-together, when we talk about anything; not necessarily work; it’s our chat at the coffee machine.
We each arrange our environment to suit our needs; from the noise levels to workspace ergonomics (no arguments about radio on or radio off, or about who gets to sit near the heating).
There is no commuting, no traffic, no crowds of pedestrians on the route to work; just each of us and our home desks. Being able to wear comfortable clothes is great, (we do wear clothes, at least for the video conferences) and we don’t miss the time that would be spent ironing our work shirts.
Applied Software Engineering Ltd company of course relies heavily on its remote communication tools which allow all our development teams to communicate freely. Our IP phone system and online group video calls (thanks BlueJeans) helps us to harness the flow of information and to interact freely through discussions and online meetings.
Technology brings us close together, even when we are working many miles apart!
